Composer - Performer - Researcher
About
Evan O'Donnell is a London-based composer, performer and researcher investigating gesture, expressive timing, and embodied interaction within electronic and experimental music practice. Recent work investigates the relationship of movement to rhythmic phrase, blurred sonic boundaries between the digital and physical, and the transposition of expressive musical language across genre via digital tools.
O'Donnell has conducted international collaborations, tours, and residencies, including work with Balinese gamelan ensembles and noise and experimental music communities in Indonesia, Mexico, and his native United States. His prior background includes 15+ years' performance experience in underground and popular music, including punk, r&b, rock, and indie. He is currently pursuing research on embodied rhythm in digital contexts, including ethical workflows for translating human-centric expressive knowledge for customizable interactions with new technology.
