Evan O'Donnell is a London-based composer, researcher and performer focused on expressive timing, embodied musicality, and relationships between the digital and physical. His background includes 15 years’ experience as a performing guitarist, including national tours in the USA, several years as a percussionist in Balinese gamelan ensembles, releases on international labels, and collaborations and residencies with experimental communities in both Indonesia and Latin America. His research output focuses on musical human-computer interaction and the use of creative practice to inform individualised uses of music technology, including ethical, small-data uses of AI. Recent performance and composition works investigate links between movement and rhythm, non-grid-based electronic music, and the translation of expressive detail across genres and mediums.
